Prof Kim Felmingham

Kim is the Chair of Clinical Psychology in the School of Psychological Sciences at the University of Melbourne. She is a clinical psychologist and neuroscientist, who has focused on the treatment of Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, complex and childhood trauma, and anxiety and stress-related disorders for over 15 years, and she has worked treating Functional Neurological Disorders over the past 18 months. She is trained in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), EMDR, Prolonged Exposure, schema therapy, phase-based treatments for complex trauma, and emotion regulation techniques.
Kim is recognised internationally for her research investigating the neurobiology of PTSD, and the neurobiological mechanisms underlying trauma treatments (including exposure therapy), and she has over 150 publications in this field. She is currently conducting clinical trials to identify ways to improve treatment of complex trauma and PTSD.
Kim trains clinical psychology students in the postgraduate clinical psychology program at the University of Melbourne, supervises clinical interns in the university clinic and supervises clinical psychologists working in clinical trials of PTSD treatment at Phoenix Australia, and psychologists in the clinical psychology registrar program.
